Welcome to the May 2019 ladies tennis update.

May was a very busy month for ladies tennis. Both of the ladies social tennis events finished up and had prizegiving parties, our Friendly league team won the the league, a record 63 ladies (plus several subs) are competing in Summer league and 60 of you are playing in the Mixed Line tennis.

Thanks to everyone who took pictures at this months events.

Please contact myself or any of my Ladies Tennis Team with any queries or suggestions.

Ladies Wednesday Mornings

The Wednesday Morning tennis finished on Wednesday 23rd May, followed by a fabulous prizegiving lunch. I was the lucky winner of the Spring / Summer session, followed by Kaye Terry in 2nd place and Ger O’Brien in 3rd place. Click here for more photos.

A heartfelt thanks from all of us who played on Wednesday mornings to Valerie Bowens and Emer Soulsby who did such a wonderful job running this event. Their calm, efficient and friendly manner made Wednesday mornings a pleasure for us all. The record numbers attending were no surprise!

Thanks also to Catherine Tobin, Marina Reddy and Maura Tutty who are organising Wednesday morning tennis over the Summer.

Ger O’Brien, Gerrie O’Connell, Marcia McGee, Monica Woods will be running Wednesday Mornings from September. Thanks ladies, you have a hard act to follow!

Ladies Thursday Nights

The Ladies Thursday nights finished on Thursday 16th May with prize-giving on Friday 17th.

Congratulations to:
1st: Therese Schmidt
2nd: Marj Flood
3rd: Bernadette Hearns

A massive thank you to Máire-Bríd Casey, Marie McGee, Mary Fogarty and Sarah Tiernan for your great work running Thursday Night tennis for us all! The huge increase in attendance on Thursday nights is down to the 4 of you and the great tennis you provided for us every night.

Thanks to Emer Soulsby and Noreen Kelly who are organising a rota to keep Thursday night tennis running over the Summer. There will be limited courts for the first 2 weeks (6th, 13th May) as courts are being used for Summer League most other nights and it’s only fair to leave some room for members who don’t play organised tennis.
Volunteers are needed for 13th June, 20th June, 27th June, 15th August, 22nd August. Please contact Emer or Noreen if you can help out.
