Members Update

Dear Members

Many of you have been enjoying playing tennis over the last number of weeks and

I would like to thank and acknowledge members adherence to the extremely strict guidelines which allowed us back to play tennis.

We have been very ridged on implementing the guidelines and understand members frustration around some of the measures put in place to ensure all our safety especially around no furniture being available in the club, comparing us to other venues where furniture is freely available however we would ask that you stay with us on the rest of our phase 2  journey for another week and do our very best to continue to keep everybody safe.

We are approaching the point at which Phase 3 can commence under the Irish Government’s Roadmap for Reopening Society and Business.  This is scheduled to happen on 29th June subject to final approval from the Government.

In Phase 3 we hope that:

  • Members residing outside 20km from the Club will be able to access our facilities.
  • The Clubhouse may reopen to serve refreshments and food in our Bar and Restaurant facilities.

Tennis Ireland’s Phase 3 (29th June) guidelines indicate that doubles play (with partners from a different household) may be reinstated and the Club House, changing rooms and club restaurant may reopen subject to strict cleaning protocols. Additionally, coaching may be relaxed further however these guidelines are all subject to been approved by the governments expert group and will not be formally announced until next week.

We continue to be in regular contact with Tennis Ireland on all these points and will inform Members as soon as we have more clarity.

We are preparing to reopen our Bar and Restaurant facilities on 29th June in line with the Government announcement last night subject to final arrangements being finalised and published.

Tourism Ireland has published Guidelines for Reopening Restaurants and Cafes as well as Guidelines for Re-opening Pubs.  We will be following the recommendations in these documents very carefully.  Members can be reassured that the recommendations contained in the Guidelines are underpinned by advice made available from the HSA, HSE, FSAI World Health Organisation (WHO) and other relevant bodies.

We have restructured our offerings in anticipation of reopening.  Simona has reviewed our food offering and we expect to employ a chef to work with our team and oversee all food preparation.  Marian and Tricia who previously worked in our kitchen have agreed to take over the cleaning and care of the Club House facilities.

Steve and Simona have also reviewed our beverage offerings.  Some of the stock in the Bar (mainly beer kegs past best before dates) have been removed and will be exchanged next week.  Beer lines, taps and equipment have been cleaned thoroughly.

While the clubhouse was closed all our statuary testing continued and is up to date, also the water system has been tested and sanitised ready for reopening.

Our focus on reopening will be on providing Members with attractive food and beverage options in a safe environment.  This will require certain changes to how we have operated in the past.  These changes may include a requirement to book in advance for some meals, table service only, protocols around the numbers in the Function Room or Bar Area at any one time and the time after which Members may be expected to vacate their table.  Further detailed information will be made available to Members on re-opening.

We appreciate that the changes we need to make may appear inconvenient to Members in relation to the past. We respectfully ask Members to adhere to the new protocols so that all members can enjoy our Club House whilst feeling safe.

Our plan for the return to opening is as follows:

Continental Breakfast

  • Monday to Sunday 10.00am to 12.00pm

Brunch and Lunch

  • Brunch Monday to Thursday 12.00pm to 8pm
  • Lunch Friday and Saturday 12.00pm to 6.00pm
  • Formal Sunday Lunch 1.00pm to 6.00pm (booking required)

Evening

  • Evening Bar Food Friday 6.00pm to 9.00pm
  • Saturday Evening Food Offering 6.00pm to 9.00pm (booking required)

Menus will be published on the website next week and will be available to Members for viewing on TV screens in the Club House and from speaking with the serving staff.

Booking of tables will be required for Saturday Evening Food and Sunday Lunch Offering which can be made by contacting Simona 087 7579039 or by e-mail to fanbmanager@cltc.ie

We would ask that all payments be made by Member Smart Card or by Bank/Credit Card.

We expect that our Food and Beverage offering will evolve over the coming weeks in response to Member feedback and as we gain experience with the new normal!

There will be restrictions on the number of people we can accommodate in the Bar Area and Function Room at any one time to maintain required social distancing.  Some seats will be removed from the Bar area. We will need to capture the names of all people visiting the Club House for contact tracing purposes.  As soon as guidance allows, we will return balcony furniture to the outside area.

We very much look forward to Phase 3 and welcoming Members to our courts and back to the Club House over the coming weeks.  We very much wish to receive feedback from you and should you have any comments or questions please contact me or Steve O’Reilly, Club Manager.

Finally, we have added HB Ice Cream to our snack offering on the balcony in anticipation of summer sunshine!

Please Stay Safe Play Safe

Philip
