Junior Coaching – Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can my child attend coaching if they are not a member of the club?

No. All children must be junior members of the club to take part in the coaching programme. Membership must be paid before the coaching term starts.

2. Can my child try a week or two before committing?

Unfortunately, we do not offer ‘trial’ coaching sessions. To participate, your child must be a fully paid-up junior member and enrolled in the coaching programme in advance.

3. Does the membership fee include coaching?

No. Membership and coaching are separate. Membership allows your child to access club facilities and register for coaching, but coaching fees must be paid separately.

4. How many classes does the coaching fee cover?

Each coaching term includes one class per week over a 17-week period (excluding school and bank holidays).
If you’d like your child to attend more than one class a week, you can sign up again and pay separately for additional classes.

5. I’m away for two weeks – can I pay less?

No. We do not offer partial refunds or discounts for missed classes.
If the club cancels or reschedules a class, we will ensure a make-up class is arranged or offer a refund where appropriate.

6. What does my child need for coaching?

Your child should come prepared with:

  • racket
  • water bottle
  • white t-shirt, as per our junior dress code

7. Will my child be indoors or outdoors for coaching?

Coaching is held both indoors and outdoors depending on the class.
The location will be clearly stated on your schedule.

8. What if I join my child as a junior member, but they don’t get a space in coaching?

We do our best to let you know in advance if your child is likely to get a space.
However, if you join as a member and your child does not secure a place, the club will refund your membership fee.

9. Does my child automatically stay in the programme each year?

Yes – if your child is signed up in September, they will be automatically enrolled for the following January.
If you do not make the coaching payment by the deadline given, we will assume you no longer want the space and it will be released to other members.

10. I would like to play tennis with my child – is that allowed?

To play with your child on court, you must also be a full, paid-up member of the club.
Being listed as your child’s contact for registration does not make you a member.

11. My child has been invited to a development or performance squad – what do I need to know

If your child is invited to join one of our advanced squads, you must ensure all coaching fees are up to date to retain their place.

12. Who do I contact with questions about coaching?

Stephen Garvin is the Director of Tennis at CLTC and will assist with your coaching inquiries. You will find his contact details here.
