Supporting Para-Standing Tennis in Ireland
This tournament is particularly special to Castleknock Lawn Tennis Club as we are immensely proud to support our long-standing member, David Murphy, and the incredible work he has done to introduce, develop and champion para-standing tennis in Ireland.
David’s dedication has helped open the door to tennis for people with physical disabilities, including many who had never picked up a tennis racket before.
Seeing these players embrace the sport, develop their skills and now have the opportunity to compete in an international tournament here in Ireland is something we are all very proud to be part of.
Para-standing tennis provides opportunities for players with physical disabilities who don’t use a wheelchair to enjoy tennis, helping make the sport accessible to an even wider community.
Welcoming International Players to Castleknock
Located in Castleknock, Dublin 15, Ireland, Castleknock Lawn Tennis Club is an established and welcoming members’ tennis club with a strong sense of community.
We are delighted to be opening our doors to international players and visitors for this landmark tournament.
The Open will be played on our indoor tennis courts, providing a comfortable, weather-protected environment for competitors throughout the three days.
To help make the experience as enjoyable and supportive as possible, the following facilities and arrangements will be available:
- Indoor tennis courts for all tournament matches.
- Tournament Hotel/Venue transfers available for participating players.
- Tournament hotel located approximately 10 minutes from the club.
- Dedicated physiotherapy room for players.
- Prosthetic support available during the event.
- Full bar and restaurant facilities for players, families and supporters.
- Club volunteers on hand throughout the tournament to welcome visitors and assist where needed.

We recognise that accessibility is an important part of planning any sporting event. Our organising team is committed to supporting the individual requirements of competitors and helping everyone feel comfortable and welcome throughout their visit.
Players with specific accessibility, mobility or support requirements are encouraged to contact the tournament organisers in advance so that arrangements can be discussed.
A Warm Welcome On and Off the Court!
While the tennis will undoubtedly be the highlight, we also want our visitors to enjoy everything that makes Castleknock Lawn Tennis Club such a special place.
Our Club Chef, Lucas, is already looking forward to feeding the players, families and supporters, and our bar and restaurant team led by our F&B Manager Lukasz, will be ready to welcome competitors, families and supporters throughout the weekend.
One of the most encouraging aspects of hosting this event has been the fantastic response from our own members. So many have volunteered their time to help make this tournament a success.
From welcoming visitors to helping with the running of the event, our members are determined to make the Irish Bearing Point Para-Standing Tennis Open an experience to remember.
We may be hosting an international competition, but we want everyone who visits to feel right at home!
Adam Hills Joins the Competition
We are particularly excited to welcome Adam Hills, internationally known comedian, television presenter and one of the leading advocates for para-standing tennis.
Adam has been a passionate campaigner for growing the sport and creating more opportunities for people with physical disabilities to play competitive tennis.
His participation in the Irish Open is a fantastic boost for the event and for the continued development of para-standing tennis in Ireland.
