Ladies Team Tennis 2026

The Groups and Schedule for the ladies team tennis is now available.

This will be a fun, social event starting on Thursday 2nd July and running for 5 weeks.

Rules

  • Teams of 6 players (similarly graded level ).
  • 21 games with the final game a normal tiebreak (first to 7, win by 2).
  • Warm up is limited to 5 minutes only
  • Players must play first point after deuce, where the receiver chooses who will receive the serve.
  • After 10 games a pairing may decide to swap between deuce and advantage sides.
  • You can only play with the same player twice across all weeks. Failure to observe this rule will result in points for the relevant pairing/pairings (4 points) being awarded to the opponents.
  • Your captain will decide the player pairings and positions ( 1, 2, 3 ).
  • Each week you will play a different team in your category.
  • Captains should submit the team pairings to Joan before 9pm on Wednesday.
  • Scoresheets will be available behind the bar on the evening of play for collection by either team captain.
  • As soon as the match is finished, Captains should take a photo of the scoresheet and submit to Joan.
  • Scoring system: 4 points for 14 or more games, 3 points for 11-13 games, 2 points for 10 games and 1 point for 7-9 games.
  • When a sub is used in a match that pairing can score a maximum of three points.
  • If a player retires during a match, for whatever reason, all the remaining games of that particular match will be awarded to the opponents.
  • Matches are only played on Thursday evenings. There will be 2 sessions,7pm and 8.30pm.
  • If you cannot make a Thursday you must use a sub of a similar standard, agreed by the Ladies Captain or a member of the Ladies Tennis committee.
  • Players are responsible for finding their own sub. It is not the responsibility of the captain. A list of players who are available to play is on the website or you may find a sub of your own. Please notify your captain that you are using a sub.
  • Once a sub has been approved, the captain must inform the captain of the opposing team of the change.
  • Teams are mixed ability so the emphasis is having fun, coming out to play on a summer evening and meeting with your fellow members and hopefully a drink after on a sunny balcony.

ENJOY!
